Over hundred of year’s, this village has gained popularity for the traditional Indian handicrafts. The toys are famous for wooden toys. These toys can be seen as a reflection of people. These toys are simple and beautiful. There is an elaborate process of making each of these toys. The process of making toys making, which is known as sharing. The toys engaged in this profession portrays the journey of Indian artisans from the rule of different Rojas and maharajah. Usage –

Myths –
There are different myths and legends are associated with these toys. The lab is used to make these toys. The word Lac comes from Sanskrit word? Lakisha. In the time of Mahabharata, pandas were fleeing with house of lac, and it originated as resource and material. It is believed that some lac coated houses have; till modern day. Toys draw inspiration from various legends.
History –
These artisans have migrated to Etikoppaka migrated to as it has abundant wood yielding trees. During the old times, these artisans used to make temple carts. One of the landlords decided to transform the enterprise so that art and artisans can have their independent source of livelihood. The natural dyes are used for costing these toys. These were then replaced by chemical dyes due to lack of artisans during that period. The history of toys is rich as their quality. These toys are able to withstand all changes in the Indian society from colonialism and globalization.
Design -These toys are able to establish their own identity since they feature a multitude of designs and colors oh different objects. Colors and designs combination seem endless to consumer eye. The artisans get recommendations from crafts magazines, which helps them to come up with different products and features. Customer requirements and market feedback is important.

Challenges – These toys have undergone an enormous change in the technology usage, market, design due to various challenges. There was decline of this craft in colonial rule. But Mr CV AJU who played a great role in reviving this craft by introducing new product ranges while keeping modern requirements. ·
- Storage of wood. As wood sometimes develops cracks even, when necessary, care is taken. If the wood develops cracks, it can not be used to make toys and investment goes waste.
- Absence of regular power supply – the power is limited to 6 hours per day. This led to less total man-hours of work. Working at night will not only affect the artisans’ health but also final product quality. ·
- Major challenge-Sale of plastic toys – The plastic toy is cheap and colourful which attracts both parents and kids. Many artisans are replacing the natural dyes with chemical ones, which reduce the price. This had reduced the price drastically.
